In Ranjana Natarjan's, "Racial profiling has destroyed public trust in police. Cops are exploiting our weak laws against it.", she talks about the unconstitutional acts of cops within the range of ethnicity. There is a steady increase in the rates of the killings of unarmed black men. One cause of that would be racial profiling. Racial profiling is "the use of race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. Another reason being that their use of imprudent potency in the work that they do, is an overkill on the power and authority that they have been granted. Many people associate this whole ordeal as white versus black, when in all actuality it's all races against all races. There has been many organizations created because of this issue at hand. One of the larger and well known movements created against racial profiling and cop exploitation is the Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives Matter movement is an international activist movement, originating in the African American community, which campaigns against violence towards black people.

The central idea of the article is to not only inform us of the current social issue but to also advocate a message for those who can't advocate it for themselves. Natarjan's article informs us of past occurrences within the matter while also giving us solutions to solve the issue. The author's objective, as stated before, is to advocate. The author told us a problem. She also told us the when, what, how, and why, of the problem. She then gave us solutions and suggestions to go along with the solutions that she gave. The intended audience of the article was all races. General audience was intended. The author didn't have any diction that wasn't self-explanatory, but it was quite informative. I found this article to be useful in that, this is information and conversations of everyday life that I can tap into. I feel as though it held importance and needed to be shared with others.
Summary within the article This article explores cop exploitation and racial profiling. "Listening to the voices from the movement - and learning from the death of Eric Garner and the series of other deaths of unarmed black men - it's clear that two issues need to be addressed racial profiling and police use of excessive force. Both run afoul of the U.S. Constitution, but remain common practices in law enforcement, too often with tragic results."
