How to Write a Personal Experience Essay Essay

Before entering college English Composition, I never paid much attribution to the audience aspect of a piece of work, but having this in mind when constructing an essay, has definitely improved my writing. The audience an author is aiming for is very important when constructing an essay. Determining an audience gives you a sense of the kind of tone, language, and information the essay should be composed of. Regardless of how well an essay is written, either with an impressive organization, or development, it is not going to persuade its intended audience if the writer has selected an inappropriate rhetorical approach. Therefore, the audience "My Literacy Journey" was intended for was my English 1010 professor, but I also indirectly aimed the audience to be addressed towards my mother, thanking her through writing for everything she has done. The literacy narrative is not meant to give my complete history of my writing experiences. Instead, it is meant to describe the most memorable ones. I chose to select the ones I connected with the most. That way, I could put all of my dedication into describing each moment flawlessly in a way that invites the audience to live the memory along with me.
Before I started my literacy narrative essay, I took the time to brainstorm ideas about my literacy history and who was the most appropriate literacy sponsor to incorporate in my essay. We were assigned to read articles from the book Writing About Writing, which really helped me better my essay in a way that I knew how to ideally organize my thoughts. Without peer workshops, I do not think my essay would have taken the shape that it did once it was time to turn in the final draft. The other students helped point out flaws within my essay, which I did not notice while writing it. When it was time to revise my essay, I had a good sense of what needed to be improved, or what needed to simply be eliminated. Now that my draft is complete, I believe it is one of my strongest essays I have written for the most part. If I were to be given the chance to redo the literacy narrative essay, then I would include more memorable experiences of when I gained my literary knowledge. Also, I would begin the essay as soon as I am given the topic. Therefore, I have more time to revise it and make it as flawless as I can. I tend to wait until the last minute to wrap up an essay, but since my English 1010 professor required us to do peer workshops, it was important that I had as much of the essay done. That way, my peer could revise my essay, making it easier for me once it was time to do the final draft. Peer workshops had an immense amount of improvement in my writing, due to the different viewpoints and questions on issues they might not have thoroughly understood.
