Should cell phones be banned at school? Essay

Today cell phones are advancing and everyone seems to have one, epically teenagers.
As they advance, communication becomes faster and easier than ever. Cell phones makes it
so much easier to cheat because you have apps that give you answers and you have the
internet at the tip of your fingers. As teenagers get more involved with texting, teens have a
harder time communicating in the real world. Are cell phones a big distraction and a problem
in schools?
Cell phones at school have been band for many reasons. They cause a distraction to
students learning. Cell phones have apps and other things on them that are not part of the
school curriculum, such as emailing, texting, viewing pictures or videos. Students can take
pictures of a test or exam and send them to another student to help them cheat. They also use
the camera on their phone to take pictures of other student or themselves. Cells phones can
also be a safety issue. There has been a number of causes were students call in bomb threats
or other treats. (Lee and McMahon, 2015)
Teachers and administrators get unneeded stress put on them because of students
using cell phones. Cell phones cause a big behavior problem in school. When students start
arguments they call their gang members or older people to come and back them up. When
teachers notice students on their phone, the students run off trying to avoided trouble.
Students are using their phones at school to look up inappropriate images and videos sharing
them with other student. Students use their phones to take pictures of test and text the
answers between each other. Students use their phones to make drug deals during school or
call in acting like a parent when they are skipping school. Students cant focus in class be
cause of the distractions going on in the cyber world. (William Armstrong, 2015)

Cell phones help students learn in a in a comfortable that they are used to. Students
can watch videos or audio to make learning come alive. There is a lot of educational aps that
help learning be fun. Cell phones make it easy to work together in projects and other actives.

I believe that cell phones are a dictation and a problem to the school. As a student I
know how tempting it is to have my phone at school, I want to use it and I have to always
look at my phone to see whats going on. But I know if I get on my phone I wont pay action
and I wont get what we learned for that day. The next day I have no clue what Im doing. I
have also notice the same thing goes with other student in my classes. There is no way to
really multitask when it comes to cell phones. Teachers should have to limit and set rules
about cell phones.
