The effect of drugs on human’s mind, 502 words essay example

Essay Topic: drugs, effect

Chemicals that affect the mind are called narcotic or drugs which interfere with the brain by interrupting the communication between neurotransmitters. Drugs affect with the way neurons normally receive, send, and process information. Some drugs, such as heroin and marijuana, can trigger neurons because their chemical make-up copies that of a biological neurotransmitter. The video goes into great to the lengths of these affects and the categorizing of the way drugs interfere with the mind.
The mind on drugs can increase pleasure between the body and mind while affecting the way we act and the way our body preforms. Caffeine is an example of a type of a drug no one thinks about. Two to four cups of coffee would be normal to cause any kind of stimulation. About ten cups would probably put anyone to sleep. After one hundred cups of coffee on the other hand would probably be enough to kill a human being. Caffeine is a very common drug and it is not as harmful as other drugs because it takes so much of it to have an effect.
The video goes into great detail on the different kind of ways that certain types of drugs affect the mind. Drugs mainly affect the brain through the Neurotransmitters which influence behavior and consciousness. These Neurotransmitters are affected by the chemicals humans ingest such as alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, medicine, and caffeine. These chemicals get involved with neurotransmitters a number of ways which are agonist, antagonist, and reuptake inhibitor.
An agonist is a chemical that connects to a receptor and triggers the receptor to produce a natural response. Where an agonist is in charge of a reaction, an antagonist blocks the reaction of an agonist. The list of agonists include nicotine, morphine, and tranquilizers.
An antagonists resolves an agonists effects through receptor interactions by blocking an agonist from organizing a reaction. This is definitely accomplished by combining the active location. Also because an antagonists may interact at unique combing sites not usually affected in the natural control of the receptor's activity to maximize their effects. The list of antagonists are caffeine, Botox, Thora zine.
As the mind advances towards conforming to the existence of the drugs, areas outside of the reward and punishment centers of the brain are also afflicted. Over long periods of time, areas of the brain responsible for decision-making, memory, judgment, and learning begin to actually become altered, making certain behaviors become spontaneous. After these changes occur, addictive behavior transforms into reflex and habit. The addiction then transforms the person into a drug addict. In some areas of the brain, contact between neurons are severed back.
Discontinuing drug use does not instantly return the brain to its original state. A few drugs have lasting effects, such as destroyed neurons and most of the cells lost will not be replaced. While some changes to connections among neurons in the mind may not be permanent, a few last for a long time. Researchers suggest that changes may even last for years.
