After reviewing many books and authors there isnt any proven system to reach regional development trough the tourism industry. In the case of study we are able to see that every place has different circumstances. Because of that, the functions in one place may not function in other place with different characteristics. Getting smaller things right is the first to do thing for a under developed country. To boost the industry there should be formal system such as government policies, regulations and legislations. Mainly, we should understand how to get benefits through Tourism development to regional development to make peoples life sustainable.
When developing Tourism industry it is one of most important thing to pay attention for the environmental sustainability. Natural resources are not growing according to the mans needs so it is a must to protect natural environment. At this time it is better than to pay attention to develop sustainability tourism more than mass tourism. A well as mans needs are different to each other and this is very similar to Tourism industry. To be a good player in Tourism industry, you need to understand your visitors requirements and you have to provide what he need not what you have.
Government and other responsible authorities have a main responsibility towards Tourism development, Regional development as well as to keep the natural environment sustainably. The problem that this presents is that there are many tourism destinations competing for investment and usually companies go where requirements are minimum. By this means the creation of environmental, cultural and carrying capacity policies may encourage international and national companies to invest in a different destination with weaker policies. As a result of that this kind of government policies would reduce the investment in the area but these actions could lead to a regional development even with Mass Tourism involved. I believe this type of tourism is better as long as strong government policies are involved to reduce its negative effects.
Ecotourism helps creating economic development to rural areas where otherwise economic development and environmental protection would be very difficult to accomplish. As we have reviewed in the case of study it can present an opportunity for local population to reach some sort of development. If ecotourism is not managed correctly it can also have the same problems of mass tourism regarding to pollution and environment destruction. There are other problems the most common is that in poor areas people usually do not have formal education. Even if they have an environmental culture the lack of education can lead to not to manage correctly the destination as a business. These could lead to financial problems and lack of customer. Usually these destinations in Mxico are not properly marketed and this leads to a lack of customer and financial problems. There are some that have partnered with tourism business and have overcome this situation. Yet there are others that have been scammed by private companies that sell them overpriced and low quality equipment and services.
