Women and men in society Essay

Did you know in society today that females are more likely to get better grades in school and take the role of a boss or manager in a job than males? It makes a lot of males sit back and wonder if they really need to be putting women down or calling them the weaker sex. During the Age of Ancient Mesopotamia when women were viewed as very seductive and just prostitutes. Many of the women in the story of Gilgamesh actually played a strong role in their journey. Shamhat the goddess was sent to turn Enkidu into a man by stripping off her robe and seducing him. Once Shamhat and Enkidu have sex it turns him from an animal to a man. Shamhat guided Enkidu once he was transformed. Enkidu was still confused at the fact of being civilized he thought of himself as still an animal. Shamat actually cared for Enkidu and took great care of him. Men were not aware of how much power the women actually had. Men couldnt transfer other people into certain things like the women could.
Women also were viewed for their wisdom but in the wrong ways. Ishtar the goddess of love and war also played a big role in the story. She is the one who lead Gilgamesh on his journey to immortality. Ishtar should be viewed as very bold because she asked Gilgamesh to marry her right off the bat. Ishtar is very upset that Gilgamesh will not marry her so she sends down the Bull of Heaven to punish Enkidu and Gilgamesh. Most of the men looked at Ishtar as a whiny baby or is spoiled and gets what she wants. Ishtar just wanted love from a man and Gilgamesh was who she was in love with. Gilgamesh was not innocent himself when it came to love. He was known as a womanizer and had relationships with many women,
Once Gilgamesh defeated Humbaba. Ishtar was really turned on by his heroic move and Gilgamesh turned her away because he was trying to get over his obsession of women but I really believe that Ishtar and Gilgamesh were meant to be and were not just a fling. Women in society today are still frowned upon. Men think that women are the weaker sex and are just for the worlds enjoyment. Women are human beings who have the same rights that men should have.
Women have really developed since the Mesopotamian era. Theyve perceived all of their abilities and what they are capable of doing. Many women have changed the world we live in today. They hold a strong reputation of girl power. Women should be more respected in society. They work very hard to succeed but arent rewarded enough. Sit back and ask yourself what would the world be like if we didnt have women. It couldnt nearly survive because they produce the population. Women are one of the most heroic figures in history but are invisible to the world's eyes.
